Covington Again from the East this time...88 miles....

There are three ways to Covington, across the Causeway,  around the left side of Lake Pontchartrain  through Manchac or around the right side through Slidell, this trip its through Slidell.  Not very complicated,
Broad St to Chef Menteur,  then Hwy 90,  turn left to Slidell, across Slidell, Hwy 190 to Covington,,,
Points of interest,  getting lost on the Scout Camp Salmen nature trail instead of the Trace trail, embarassing,
asking for directions at the Indian Hills Campground, no one answered, trying to shortcut from 190 to something more north and  touring a subdivision with big dogs ,5 dead ends, back to 190, speed limit is 450 miles an hour, viewing the parade of green 4 wheeler off road vehicles in the back of black 4x4, big wheel 3 ton pickup trucks, must be a disorder, do they ever use them or just tote them around to express their
lack of or abundance of  testosterone,  being pelted by gravel , bugs, and having trucks pass so close they move the hair on your legs.  Nothing, nothing, nothing is more majestic than standing atop the Rigolets bridge, turning 360 degrees and seeing as far as you can see, makes me wonder why someone in their right mind would settle a swamp, on the edge of a swamp, on the edge of a lake, on the edge of a gulf, on the edge of an ocean. I can't imagine a French or Spanish settler disembarking his hand laid, secure , wooden ship to stand in 3 feet of muck, shouting , "lets build a fort here in this muck"..Starting on Broad st  adds nostalgia , Chef Menteur ain't what she used to be, beautiful ride, good roads, dangerous on 190 since there's no speed limit, get to see daughter and family at end of trip.  88 miles , , , will do it again,,,,,,,
tomorrow 100 miles , no direction yet.... have 3, 100 mile trips in , want more......
