Crescent City Classic 2014

7:45 am Saturday, we assembled along with 27,000 other citizens to partake in the Crescent City Classic,
that's right the "Crescent City" classic not the BIG  EASY classic,  after all this is the Crescent City on the Crescent of the Mississippi as signified by a Crescent Moon on everything, there were running Bananas,
Bert and Ernie portrayals, Supermen, Superwomen, Wonder Women,  Saints Fans in assorted garb, tutu's everywhere, a crazy woman running barefoot on the glass, nails, butts, spit, vomit, road kill, oil, funky water,
I don't understand it, it's as amazing as the stretch leggings , waiting to split into shreds, lashing at 10 people in the area, spandex can only hold so much. Its started a little cold but by  mile 2 things warmed up ,, we saw Bob Breck and the station staff, his hair thing is unbelievable, not sure how to describe it, the bands along the way were real good this year, they weeded out some crap,, the free beer gang was there ? , the free liquor shots people were there ? ,  not understanding that either, but then I still struggle with the quadratic equation .The walk down Esplanade is historic, beautiful, daughter and I were a little more civil this year, only ridiculing about 15000 participants, son was frustrated and upset, several 80 year old women in support hose , carrying canes passed us up , daughter and I didn't care, he was embarrassed, mile 4 he couldn't take it any more , he had been walking with us because he'd been sick, sick or not, he was gonna run those last 2 miles and catch the 80 year old woman with the cane .  Daughter and I didn't care... All in all it was a great day,,Daughter and I ran the last 100 yards to keep our 1 hour 50 minute record in tack.   The line for Jambalaya was incorrigible, 30 across and 50 deep, we fought our way to the banana tent and got a few green bananas, some water , and oh the tea tent didn't have a line.  About 200 yards to the finish we crossed the Tuxedo Troubadours brigade, they do good considering their wearing Tuxedos. Looked for Sally, needle in a haystack, maybe next year,.. Another one for the books, son swears to win next year, daughter and I don't care , we just walking......
