Regardless of accumulated miles , it never seems enough, it's an OCD thing, a million miles would be a good start.  Last Saturday 50 miles, Sunday 50 miles, Monday 70 miles , this Saturday  40 miles , Sunday 50 miles , 15 on Wednesdays.  Heat, beat me like Stan beat Stella with Blanche pissing him off . Tripped back to Garyville, the River side of St John was ok,  I was attacked by Cujo in Reserve, usually I ignore big growling dogs but this dog was special , I cruised a while , let him snap at my back tire ,my feet, I accelerated, he chased, he stopped before his heart exploded.. The trip out west is a lonely one, no riders to cross, no walkers in your way, it's solemn, insightful , sometimes scary.  Marking 40 miles, your mind changes, legs become mechanical, breathing unnoticeable,
your focused, but unconsciously pictures appear randomly from all aspects of life flashing across the "drive in" screen you've set up behind the forehead. Occasionally you can pull out a tiny lawn chair , place it on your head, seat your subconscious , it's little subconscious hair flowing in the wind, sucking up a 360 degree view with a snarly grin. 1100 songs blasting into each ear, crashing in the middle brain becoming visual, alive, perpetuating thoughts unthinkable in a normal setting.  What the hell am I doing here ?, I'm 35 miles from home, alone, vulnerable (ha), and feeling great. The real excitement comes when you discover you may die, you get home and realize you've cheated death once again.
I enjoy the decadent festival, it's so decadent,, I didn't make it there after dark this year, not much  happening in the morning , nice decorations but very little decadence. Sunday morning my rear tire went flat, stopped on Decateur and Iberville in the shade of a big cold cement building, later noticed I was not far from "Dixie Darlings", the women in there are more manly than I, most could throw me over a fence. Fixed my flat tire and just sat there a while watching the people go by, giving directions to tourist, they're looking at maps on I-pods and still lost, I send them all to the Riverfront.
Ate my peanut butter and jelly sandwich then moved on like the vagabond I am .  Speaking of Vagabonds, some unshaven, unclean,, homeless, nice gentlemen were camping in the batture , they were removed by the levee board police.
If you were affected by Isaac, remember ,in the scheme of life "this too shall pass", if you let it, don't be trapped torturing yourself over events you have no control over.   I'm not affected, I live in a cave next to a stream along the fruited woods with a constant campfire, I am unaffected by the real world, I don't live in it, I just visit, the rest of the time is mine in my mind. . .

Thanks to everyone for your donations and support for the upcoming MS Tour,  Hammond to McComb,. 150 miles in 2 days.
